I don't mean to imply anything negative about Bloodlines. I have several Empire decks, and backed the Bloodlines campaign and look forward to getting my rewards, including a Warrior.

Its just that a December promise date may be hard to keep, and the last update stated finally, the Warrior is a go, which gives me pause.

I have received my Hotcakes brick boxes, and have bought more from the uusi.us website.

I saw that you nominated hotcakes a few times. Because we are questioning empire bloodlines I wanted to know, has Hotcakes shipped yet?

As of August 15, they shipped to over 70% of all their backers - only certain, more complex rewards haven't been shipped yet.  It's also for sale at http://uusi.us in both colors.

Heretic hasn't shipped yet, I think it's still a month to a month and a half out. I agree it's very sharp, I'm excited to get mine.

There are several very nice brick boxes this year. The Ornate brick boxes and Boardwalk Papers are some stand outs in my opinion. Holding off on my nomination until I have the Steampunk Bandits and Heretic brick boxes in hand. I like the Imperial half brick boxes too, but I can't remember if those were in January or made a late December release last year.

You can nominate just one deck - but you can second as many as you like.

I'm just wondering if something wooden like that would qualify as a half-brick box or as an accessory.  What are your opinions on this, fellow members?  When I was thinking half-brick and brick, I was thinking of the standard industry box size, shape and composition - but it's not like I made that terribly clear, either.

Just so you know - if you want to make a push to have something changed, please let me or Rose know.  Certain things - like allowing a deck that won't deliver before year's end - would be completely rejected, but this is your forum and your awards.  Ideas are welcome.  Post any non-category specific ideas in the main sticky topic on this board.

I think if it holds 6 or 12 decks it should be eligible, I see what you mean as far as, would this be considered an accessory, but it's not a "Display" box in reality, it is storage, which is the basic function of a brick box. Just my thoughts

Printed paper tends to be the material used for playing card brick boxes. That's kind of an important element in my mind when I think "Brick Box". Otherwise it's a box, you can fit 12 decks in or in this case, six. Still, it's not a "Brick Box" to me. Just how I see it.

I have a wooden box that could hold 3 decks + dice + whatever from seven seas deck, and that, i believe, will fall under accessories. And if wooden boxes are ok here, i will nominate Uusi's Redux Box

I don't agree. There is a thread up for wooden boxes now as those wooden boxes aren't brick boxes, they're accessories. From what I understand Brick boxes are for ease of manageability. 12 decks in a box are easier to negotiate than 12 decks loose. 12 brick boxes are much easier to negotiate than 144 loose decks. Helps out with handling the large volumes produced, shipped, and received. I haven't seen nor heard of any major card manufacturer using wooden boxes to accomplish that task in the year 2014. They use paper, it's light and rather flimsy only held together with cheap glue, but it accomplishes the task rather well.

I may be wrong. Just because I have never ever received a brick in a wooden box without paying for a wooden box separately doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I may not be buying from the right stores. Maybe someone is getting their bricks shipped to them in wooden boxes and I'm just not in the loop. It's certainly a possibility. Might be a question to raise in the various company topics, because if some of you are indeed getting bricks shipped to you in wooden boxes that you didn't have to pay for, I want in too.

Awards can have serious results. They're bragging rights for people/companies who win them if they choose to treat them that way. It is the public that's making the votes after all, their consumers. I think the process should be taken somewhat seriously as well, at least when dealing with the category the nomination is taken in and certainly when it comes to what category that voting takes place.

OK, guys, I'm making a decision.

A "brick" or "half-brick" box is a box that conforms to the industry standard for size, shape and composition.  It's the kind of box you'd receive from the manufacturer of the deck, the kind of box that's printed on paper.

Rose, if you would, please - I'd like TWO new categories drawn up with that lovely logo you're using.

- Best "Furniture-Grade" Deck Storage (this would allow ALL wooden storage boxes designed to hold decks, no matter how many its maximum capacity will hold).

- Best Display Box or Case (this covers wood, plastic, glass, etc. containers meant to hold cards ON DISPLAY - could be all-clear, could have a window in it, etc.)

In either case, the container has to have been PURPOSE-BUILT for holding decks of playing cards.  And released in 2014!

I do hope someone DOES second it, as you did say that you'll be separating out paper bricks from 'furniture' bricks, so there is no conflict.

In the interest of vote consolidation I won't be nominating Uusi Pagan box, which is even classier, IMHO. Peter Dunham does great work.
