It's probably the 825 because that is what is used with Bee casinso decks. And since we didn't reach that goal this time he might just give it to us next time.

OK, cat's out of the bag; I'm pretty sure it's 825 i.e., the Bee Casino stock that the Vortex didn't end up getting.  However, Alex might not have wanted that officially known just yet, perhaps because it might change and he doesn't want people to be disappointed, and I could still be wrong about the numbers so we'll wait and see.

Which is probably why he hasn't confirmed or denied anything in case something changes.

Sorry guys, no more info on these cards until 2012. This is the last bit of information until then:

The deck will take familiar aspects of card design, but push them to the limit. As always, no AC deck will ever be produced without some kind of fun innovation and experimentation. In this case, the Bicycle logo has been reworked from scratch to look so much more aesthetically pleasing, while retaining everything that makes the logo what it is.

The decision to use Bicycle branding has to do with the imagery used in the deck - it would make no sense not to. That, and the fact that many collectors buy only Bicycle cards. I want the privilege of adding my deck to their collections.

As you guys may have seen in the promotional image, SymmetryPip will be used in this deck, but the pips will not be as small as they are in the Vortex deck.

In terms of handling, I will be working with the USPCC get the best snap and durability possible.

Whether or not these will be funded by Kickstarter is not yet confirmed.

This just makes me even more excited!! On the bright side 2012 is not that far away at all. Less than a month.

The way you described altering the Bicycle logo sounds interesting. I can't wait to see what you came up with

Alex, you usually say you hate Bicycle decks. Is there any reason why you are making this one a Bike deck?

I hate the Bicycle Standards from Erlanger because they took one of my favorite, classic designs and removed all quality control from the printing process which resulted in an awful deck of cards.

I also hate the Bicycle decks that are barely customized, i.e. Merz decks. Other than that, I love Bicycle decks and always have.  :)

Oh, ok. I only said that because in one of your deck reviews (Outlaws or Vision I think) you said something along the lines of "I usually hate Bicycle Cards", but I understand.

Also I think I remember Alex saying that he wanted a to make a deck for the collectors of USPCC decks. CBJ collects Bicycle cards and the Harlequin deck fits into his collection.

Correct me if I'm wrong though haha :)

Just to dig this up, I got a Magic Circle deck today.  Smooth finish by Cartimundi and it's actually a really nice deck.  Decided to compare it side by side with a USPCC smooth (Ivory) finish deck (Bee Acorn Back).  It stacks up pretty well.  it's maybe not as slidey as the Bee but the cut of the stock seems a bit softer and they still handle great.  I know this is going to be Bicycle branded anyway but I know you were thinking about smooth finishes lately so it might be worth checking out.

I had a harlequin deck idea after playing batman arkham asylam but since i know nothing about graphic design and i can't draw anything but stick figures the ideas have always just been stuck in my head. I'm looking forward to seeing this deck and since it says series i'm assuming you're making more than one?

Ha ha... Harley Quinn and Harlequin are pretty different things, dude.  As for i being a series... I doubt even Alex knows at this point; but since it says 'Harlequin series' and not 'Part of the Harlequin series' or something like that, it's pretty open-ended.

I plan on releasing more iterations of the Harlequin deck, but let's face it I can't know anything for sure right now. We're getting other Vortex decks because you guys spoke with your wallets and bought them. If you guys want more Harlequin series decks, it will be a matter of how quickly we can sell them. One thing is for sure, I am not all those other insane companies that think it's okay to pump out a couple decks each month. I'm sticking to my guns of ~4 decks per year.

As for Harley Quinn, that's one of my favorite characters from Batman, and makes for one awesome pun, but is nowhere near where the inspiration for the deck was drawn from. I guess there are some similarities in terms of the patterning on her costume & the colors, but the Harlequin deck is an homage to the colors and imagery of the theme, not its use in popular culture.

lol i know the difference between Harley Quin and Harlequin..i grew up with my mom collecting harlequin dolls, which i might add is horrible for a child because those suckers were scary. I just said i thought about the idea from the pun itself. Harley Quin..which is an awesome character i hope to be for halloween sometime, led to me thinking of the dolls..which led to the patterns and colors associated with harlequins...plus how cool would a harlequin joker be. Anyways, like i said before, I'm looking forward to seeing his design for this.

MagicAddictz just posted on facebook that this is the 2nd in a trilogy... I thought the vortex deck was a trilogy and this was just the 2nd deck from aethercards. Can somebody fill me in?

I can't remember where exactly I read the info, but I do believe that the vortex is it's own separate series, different from the Harlequin deck. I am not 100% sure....but like 99%

Evan probably just made a mistake and said Vortex instead of Aether, I really don't think Alex would put two seemingly unrelated decks in the same series. ;)

Especially considering this one is Bicycle-branded and the Vortex wasn't.
