Here is what I read that confused me...

Quote
Not much info on this deck yet!
It is from the same company who produced the Vortex Deck and this deck is the next in their Trilogy of decks!
The pics are just teasers, so they don't reveal much.

Thanks for the help Curt. I'm hoping that Alex isn't just releasing three decks!!  ;)

I'll clear up some confusing. The way I will be producing my decks will be by releasing them in series. For example, the Vortex deck is a trilogy. The Harlequin? Unknown right now, but I would love to make more of them in the future. Unlike other companies that either release unrelated decks, or simple color variations, my goal is to create new artwork for each release in a series while maintaining the same motif throughout.

The Vortex series is three decks, with the next one coming out after Harlequin. People also asked about color variations and the like. I plan on doing something very cool with color variations, and I will only release them in extremely limited quantities.

For those of you that are curious, by the way, 2,000 Harlequin decks will be sold and that's it. I'm testing the waters with this one, and if it sells well, I will continue the series and maybe even release more branded cards. Furthermore, the deck will break new ground in a lot of areas, and I don't want to do a huge run on something so risky despite how confident I am that the risks are worth it.

 :o That's something we really can't miss!
In all honesty, theme-wise the Vortex didn't fall into my interests, though it is indeed beautifully done and I'd still get one or two decks from a reseller given the chance. The Harlequin, however, sounds much more appealing to me, I can't wait to see what you come up with. And even if you completely destroy the conventions, if you think it's worth it, by all means do it. New ideas are always welcome, even if not by everyone. ;)

Interesting. Is this taking advantage of the newer 2,500 minimum deck order, then, with 500 held in reserve?

Last I heard, there was a 5,000-deck minimum, but that for established/prominent/well-paying customers, they're willing to go lower.  It wasn't long ago that the Bicycle White New Fan Back was made in a run of 1,000...

Alex, how many Vortex decks are being made?  I'm curious if your 2,000-deck run will be enough to meet demand, which I think will be higher this time around for a number of reasons, not the least of which being that Vortex will be/is successful.

Actually, I don't know how long it's been this way, but the email I got after requesting a promo deck as well as the quote they wsent me with it clearly state that the minimum run is 2,500 decks - with a minimum cost per deck of $2.07(that is for a deck with standard faces, before art fees, other customization options etc.)

5,000 Vortex decks are being printed, with about 4,500 sold to the public. Less than half that amount are the Harlequins.  :)

Wow those are gonna be some "most wanted" decks!! I'll have to be on my toes for that one. I'm guessing this one won't be a kickstarter

My question Alex is will there be a limit to how many you can buy? With such a small amount available to the public I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

Also, how will these be sold? Will they be sold through your site?
And will you be keeping any in reserve for competitions/giveaways?

There's going to be aftermarket traders who bought in larger quantities with the intent of resale.  You'll have a chance to get them.

Plus, we're already working on a trade and I have a few decks coming my way...

Don't worry guys, if you missed out on the Vortex you will be able to snag decks for $10-11 a piece from resellers. The Harlequin, on the other hand, may go very quickly. The Vortex Kickstarter sold 3,000 decks in two weeks. Hopefully you guys will love what I'm doing with this deck, and I can make more like it in the future.

I wish you the best of luck with the Harlequins. Take care!

i dont think alex would make a limit, we discussed the limited run on aethercards facebook page and he mentioned the amount could go up if more people wanted them, i think he said this deck they were testing some things and are doing a limited amount unless needed. either way im getting some and i have a friend who might just because of the theme.
Do you guys even read this? Like I could have the meaning of life here and I doubt you would know it.

Well I'm just curious because the Vortex was a hit so I would expect there to be an equally (or larger) demand for this deck. Combine that with extremely small number of decks up for sale you could easily have very few people with a great number of deck. By limited the number of decks one could buy it allows more people to get a deck or two without having to pay the insane prices you can see in the aftermarket on super limited decks.

I can see why one might limit the purchase amount (like David Blaine and his variety box) and I can see why somebody might not limit it. I was hoping Alex might jump in and give us some info on what he's thinking for it. Then again he may not have even decided yet.
