Relax, it's cool - just messin' with the new guy.  I added photos for you.

I have my doubts about this one.  First of all, the format he chose for the art is terrible - big ugly indices combined with thick-line frames around the art, as if the card wasn't small enough already.  Second, he's saying USPC signed off on this - but did he get IP licensing from ALL the artists?  Much of the pin up art from the '40s and '50s is still under copyright.  Without that, USPC Legal will squash the project.  He's not even including the credits for the artists responsible for the art.

It's a "don't back" for me, legal question notwithstanding.  This type of work has been done before, and done better.

EDIT: just checked my email - it's from CollectablePlayingCards.com.  They have put out more meh cards in the Bicycle brand in the past year or two than even Bill Merz - and that's no easy accomplishment, I tell ya.

There's something fishy about the funding. For the longest time it was stuck at 68% then it just jumped to 92% with 4 backers pledging $2,269 in one day. That's over $567 per backer unless it was just one really enthusiastic backer throwing all that cash in.

There's something fishy about the funding. For the longest time it was stuck at 68% then it just jumped to 92% with 4 backers pledging $2,269 in one day. That's over $567 per backer unless it was just one really enthusiastic backer throwing all that cash in.

Ordinarily, I would agree that something smells rotten in Denmark.  However, Steve Guistolise has two previous projects under his belt, one of which was a success and made it into people's hands.  I mentioned earlier that I got an email from CollectablePlayingCards.com about this deck - it could be that he's gone into some kind of financing arrangement with them and they dropped a fat stack of cash on it now.  It's hard to say with a strong degree of certainty, especially with CPC involved.  They've delivered literally dozens of decks by now (though it seems more like hundreds) without dropping the ball as far as I know.  They're not pretty decks, not to my eyes, anyway, but they are Bicycle decks...
