Hey Everybody!

Hope all here are doing great.

This Manoj here from 9780 design. We are pretty excited about our latest project (soon to be on Kickstarter) and wanted to share the initial sneak peek with you all here.

In the past we had designed custom playing cards for others but now we are designing it for our very own first project. Hope you like to support artists too :)

Here are some initial pictures of our latest custom cards "Classic Playing Cards".

And do let us know your thoughts on the same....

M.

Based on what little I can see here, it certainly looks interesting.  More images, please!

This is rather disappointing.  That index placement is terrible, forcing the user to spread them insanely far apart in order to read them.  And the jacks - did you pick real people named Jack, without crowns or headgear of any kind?  Why?  The Queen of Diamonds - crownless for what reason?  And the back design - what were you thinking with all that clutter and all the words everywhere?  "Playing Card Company" surrounding the bicycle...are you implying that it's the Bicycle Playing Card Company?  Because that company never existed - it's the United States Playing Card Company, and your company name isn't mentioned...  "Vintage Style Playing Cards??"  Really?  Printed FOUR TIMES on the back?  If it actually has to say "Vintage Style" on it, it's not vintage style.

It's a mess.  I'm sorry to say it, but that's how I feel.

  • Charm gets you quite far. Guile gets you the rest.
I agree with Don on a lot of his points. The 'Playing Card Company' is awkward, and does read like 'Bicycle Playing Card Company' which is just as awkward. The Indices being so far toward the center of the card makes the courts looks cramped in the boarder and would make using them to play card games much more difficult than they would need to be. I might recommend a frame in the border you could nest the indices in? One thing I actually really like is the scrpit down the sides of the back, while "vintage style playing cards" might not be the best phrase to use, I really like it as a design element, even with it repeating.
Kickstarter completely revolutionized the way I waste money.

The people who handle playing cards are always in a world of delicate fingertip technology.

Hey Everyone!!!

Hope everything is rocking at your end!

Guys, it gives us immense pleasure to announce that our first solo project is now live on kickstarter. It took us a long long time to realise this dream and now it requires your support to become a reality.

We have made some changes to the art on the basis of some suggestions made by our friends here on "playingcardforum" and now we are ready to dance.

So please click the link below to checkout the New deck for your collection and help us make it a reality!

I merged the two topics for your deck.  In each board, we permit just one topic per deck.  It makes finding information about it - like what the older version looked like - easier.

Design - greatly improved.
Pricing - not bad.
Goal size - freakin' HUGE.  You stand a good chance of not making it because of that.  Uusi's last two-deck project (both poker decks) had a goal that was nearly $5,000 LESS than yours.

Even USPC isn't that expensive.  It would be a better idea to start with a single deck and make the second deck a stretch goal.  And how big of a print run are you looking at?  With that goal, it seems you're planning to flood the market or something.

I agree, and as the project goes on, the goal seems more and more distant, but bear in mind this is Australian Dollars, not USD as in Uusi's projects.

Even if that is in AU$, that is a HUGE goal to reach... any reason for that?

Kickstarter now offers automatic estimated currency exchange rates - I see all projects in US$ and have to move my cursor over the amount to see it in the native currency.  AU$45,000 is still nearly US$34,800 - a lot of cash for even a two-deck project.  It wasn't that long ago that AU$45K would have been almost exactly US$45K as well, but something happened in the exchange markets, ye finance gods only know what.
