  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

  • Facebook:
Go look for the 52cartes post on this deck - the cards look totally amazing and there's a video showing about 80% of what the deck will look like.  Good transformation decks are hard to find, and this one looks great.

For those who have not yet seen the work of José Emmanuel , here's a compilation video and some pictures.   You can see all of its ongoing work on Tumblr .
All maps were produced using techniques of "paper cutting".
Hopefully see this game next year printed with kickstarter.

Now thats a deck with a story!
Thats incredible! I saw the pics that 52cartes posted and I wasn't impressed. Then I saw the video, and man thats an awesome deck! I definitely wouldn't mind having a couple of those in my collection!

I agree! These look amazing. I absolutely love the clever customised faces on each and every card. I'll definitely be looking to pledge on this.
Although, anyone else surprised by the fact that the YouTube video's description says they're 2 feet tall?

Haha he designed them extra large like that. They are a life size paper cutting project. It would be pretty hard for him to cut out all the details if it were small. He'll be scaling down the size for the actual decks (if he does indeed do a kickstarter). I've been following this on tumblr and he hasn't put a great deal of emphasis on it being a lot more than a project so we'll see what happens. I'd like to have a deck because it's been fun watching the deck become what it is.

Wow, those look great! Also, I bet you can figure out what my favorite card among those is. :-P Wonder if I can get some premium print to frame on that Kickstarter campaign!

Oh, good. I was pretty confused. xD Thanks for clearing that up.
I really hope that he does do a Kickstarter deck. I think they'd look great as a Poker Size deck.

It is! The simplicity certainly gives it a special charm. In a way, it reminds me of the old Harlequin Playing Cards. Coincidence that this is the new AetherCards deck name? I doubt it.  ;)

I remember hearing about this deck and when he first started this project. It has grown so much an I will absolutely get some.

Can you imagine how awesome an uncut sheet would look!

Why don't you? His email is at the end of the video.

It is emjose@gmail.com

Also, is anyone else wondering what the backs will look like?

Totally! I hope it's some kind of crazy art on the back. And I imagine it'll be quite a complicated, intricate design. I'm not sure why, that's just how I picture it. :P
I'm looking forward to some pictures, for sure.

Sorry, I can't even limit it to three. It'll have to be five!
Mine are the Nine of Diamonds, the Seven of Clubs, the Three of Clubs, the Two of Hearts and the Five of Spades. They're just all really clever, awesome looking designs.

I just got a reply and here is what Emmanuel had to say about the future of his deck...

"Thank you! Yes, I would love to get the cards printed as a real deck, but I’m not sure about funding. I have thought about kickstarter, but I need to do some research first. I’ll keep you updated."

Well I'll tell you my five favorites then as well!! haha I really like the King of Hearts, Queen of Clubs, Six of Diamonds, Three of Hearts, and Queen of Spades. Those are the cards that really caught my eye and I thought looked the coolest; but, the rest of the cards also look really nice.

For this deck, yes I like some cards design, but when they are all together.
I think it's not good at all.
