Good afternoon from Blighty!

This is a query, more than anything and, to be perfectly honest, I didn't know where else to post a general card related enquiry on the forum. A search using the subject matter returned 3 results, that didn't pertain to my concern.

The attached pictures describe exactly what I'm experiencing. What on earth are the black lines on this particular Madison PR deck? I also have a couple of other decks that display this anomaly, non-Madison.

I haven't used Sharpies on any of the cards and actually thought it was the'black core' starting to show. They're 'usually' protected by JP clips, however, I can't really see that being the problem.

Suffice to say, does any kind soul know what it is, or even hazard a guess as to what may be causing it?

Thank you

Raymond.

NB As stated in my initial paragraph, I was unsure where to post this, therefore, if it was meant to be placed in another category, please move it :-) Also, apologies for the clarity of the pictures.

The only time I have seen this is on USPC decks when they are exposed to moisture, then the black core starts to show through.  Did your decks get exposed to water in anyway?

Hey Cardfool

Thanks for the speedy reply.

That's a very strong possibility, to be honest with you. I'll have to keep my water bottles away from them, as they're ice cold and water droplets spill now and then.

Thank you!

On a side note, what's the actual purpose of 'Reputation Points'.

No problems federdemon!  ;)

As for reputation points, I imagine that they are to rate whether you are a reliable person or not, but I can't be certain :-\..I know that you need at least one to list anything for sale.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

Cardfool is correct on both counts.

I used to notice the black lines on some of my decks I performed with and thought it was dirt transfer from letting someone else handle the cards.  Nope - natural moisture from perspiration is enough to moisten the card edge and expose the graphite in the glue layer.

Reputation points are just that, your reputation expressed in points.  When someone rates you by clicking "Good Poster" or "Bad Poster" in one of your posts, it raises or lowers your reputation by a point.  There are limits on how often users can alter a person's reputation to keep people from messing with each other.  The only practical purpose it serves is, as he said, that you have to have a reputation of 1 before you can post a new topic in the STISO (sales, trades and in search of) boards, in addition to a couple of other prerequisites that are designed to get traders to be a part of the community and to prevent fraud postings.
