Nice haul and great photos HolyJJ. I love seeing decks by the brick.  :D

As simple as they are I really like them for some reason. Need to get hold of a set one day.

I'll have some for a while. Even though I picked up the usual brick and won't use them until summer, they'll be devoured haha. I'll set a couple aside Tom, if you come up short in your part of the world give me a shout.

i'll probably pass on the original blue bloods.  I have already pre-ordered an uusi classic so I'll have one opened deck of each by May (or whenever they ship it)

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

  • Facebook:
The original Blue Blood deck is actually very interesting.  It's the first work by Uusi, and you can see the progression in their playing cards as they move from beginning card designers to experienced cardpeople!  They were artists and designers long before they played with cards (hee hee),  but there's a certain "language" to playing cards, and it's amazing to see them learning it - and speaking it - from deck to deck.

Received a few decks this week... and as usual, they are decks printed by Legends.

8 decks Special Edition Draconions with holographic deck seals:

6 decks of SiShou:

6 decks of Legends Hipsters:

I gotta say, I love the Hipsters -- the cards have both amusing and inspiring quotes on the faces, and the back design is nice also. A really fun deck!
With this signature I'm following the example set by Fes: There is only ONE letter L in my display name. "Holly" is a female name... and I'm a bearded guy who's into weightlifting. There's nothing feminine about me brother!

Hey Wolf! Welcome to the forum :D

I don't buy any USPCC decks these days... but those Trips definitely make me want to make an exception!

Even the Cherries deck that Fes has posted looks pretty cool... simple, yet classy. I like it!

A few decks arrived at my place this week.‎

Limited Edition‎ NOC V3 reprints:

This is the first time I've purchased any NOC decks... and together in a set, they look quite nice. I like them.

DMC decks:‎

I saw the FB update from Magic Orthodoxy regarding this release, and so I thought I'd check it out. The sales page boasted one of the best marking systems around... and so I was curious.

Overall, I found it to be a disappointing deck. Although gold foil on black is nearly always pretty cool on a tuckbox (Golden Spike Black Ink edition was a masterpiece), I was disappointed with this tuckbox because the cardstock for the tuck felt pretty cheap -- not too different to the feel of boxes which you find fruit and veg in at the local greengrocers.

The cards themselves are strictly okay. Everything except for the AoS and the two red kings are standard (I don't like custom courts anyway). The registration and cutting is nowhere near as bad as USPCC. Card stock is more durable than the USPCC junk... but the coating is not so good -- slip factor is actually pretty bad.

The marking system is definitely easy to read (even from across a table)... but the problem is that the markings are too easy for even a layman to find. The only way they'd pass in a performance is if the spectator was hellbent on NOT looking for markings.
With this signature I'm following the example set by Fes: There is only ONE letter L in my display name. "Holly" is a female name... and I'm a bearded guy who's into weightlifting. There's nothing feminine about me brother!

It was UC's 2014 deck, but here the "Deck of the Year 2014" was a tie between Aquila and Origins.  The topic's still there if you want to check out all the award winners.  CARD CULTURE Magazine did a feature on all of them in last month's issue.

I'm not sure who won their 2014 contest.

Thanks to a GREAT friend, I've been able to add these decks to my collection :D

The foil work on the back of these ‎tucks is awesome. I love em!

Got a legends hipster deck and a pair of mailchimps...The hipster tuck box is a little smaller than a standard deck it seems.  Didn't come with a seal either, just the wrap.

Haven't opened the mailchimps yet but i'll probably open a red and leave the black sealed

HolyJJ - that find ROCKS.

Evan - before custom deck seals became all the rage, it was actually trendy to leave out deck seals altogether, holding them closed only with the cellophane.  Some creators felt it was an eyesore to have it covering their art and collector-users liked the idea of not having to deal with removing the seal.  Yup, some people actually went through the headache of removing the sticker seal - and all the glue residue it leaves behind - because they felt it looked cleaner that way.

Before that, everyone was just using the factory-standard stuff.  Maybe in different colors, but still the "USPC Spade" seal design.  (Expert and Legends didn't exist yet, mere glimmers in Bill Kalush's and Lawrence Sullivan's eyes...)
